My five star review doesn't necessarily mean that I "love" Saxon math. As as matter of fact, I think it tends to be dry, tedious, and oodles of material. But you know what? It works, especially for children who aren't "math-minded". I've used Saxon on two children now - up to Math 3 - and this is what I've found to get through it. 1. Skip the problems your kids already know! This is one of the best things about homeschooling - we can go at our child's pace, which means doing ALL the problems that Saxon provides, if your child needs more help, or SKIP the excess problems if they have the concept down. Or if it really is difficult, split up the lesson and spread it over a couple of days. 2. The manipulatives are great! My artistic children LOVE the manipulatives, and even now, my eldest can picture how the manipulatives would explain a division problem, etc. 3. The script in the teacher's edition is very helpful. I tend to use too many words to explain things (can you tell from this review? LOL), so having this script helps me to explain the lesson without a lot of extra words in the way. I love this. All in all, I'm happy with the results I've seen from our work with Saxon, and we will be sticking with it for the long haul because I know my children will have a good mathematical foundation.I purchased this teacher's manual used on Amazon in order to cut costs. I was very pleased with the product's condition. The Saxon math materials are comprehensive, and the home study teacher's edition is clearly laid out and very easy to follow with little to no preparation. I switched from Singapore Math to Saxon math because it is a much more comprehensive program with review worked in every lesson. Every day it covers counting, clock, right/left. counting money. dates/calender, weather graphing, math facts, and new material (a new number, new types of math problems, sequencing, word problems, graphing etc.). My daughter really enjoys it which is the most important of all!I love the Saxon math program. As a former teacher turned homeschooling mom, I've used other programs before. No other program I've used, teaches to mastery as well as Saxon. It moves slowly but you can choose the pace that fits your child. Saxon is heavy on worksheets and calendar time, so you adjust the workload to the needs of your child, thus preventing burnout.Absolutely love this method of teaching my kiddos math. It makes it easy for me with telling me what not only I need for the lessons but also has it completely scripted as well. This is great and highly recommended.I don't care for Saxon Math. Too repetitive, too much scripting. We use Christian Light Education math workbooks now and my kids LOVE them! They're just as thorough, they also spiral, but they make math a little more fun for my home-schooled kids. Much less expensive than Saxon as well.I love Saxon math and as long as I homeschool I will use it and when I look for a school it will need to use this curriculum it is that good.I like the product.Thank you for the great sale I got on this Saxon Teacher's Manual. You provided honest advertisement and I was very satisfied with the speed of shipping, the price, and the quality of the product.
